FAQs

Is Parts Play the same as Parts Work?

Parts Work uses a therapeutic lens-- so, while we're related we are not technically Parts Work or Parts Therapy.

That said, Parts Play can be a part of therapy if you're working with a therapist but you don't need one to use our products.

Is this related to Loose Parts Play?

Loose Parts Play is a childhood development activity that allows that kids to get creative with "useless" materials they can freely manipulate, rearrange, and combine to create, build, and explore

In the same way, we invite you to play with the different aspects of yourself. To be creative, flexible, and open as you explore who you are inside, recombining your own ingredients in new and compelling ways.

Do I need to own your products to do Parts Play?

Not at all.

You can use anything that helps you get in touch with different parts of yourself-- you could even create characters on ChatGPT.

Should I use a therapist with your products?

That's up to you. You're welcome to invite your therapist to engage on this with you. Some have training in Parts Work.

You can also use this on your own, no therapist required.

A therapist is a great guide and particularly effective in supporting you if you need help as you navigate life.

Can I use this with Tarot or other Cartomancy?

There’s no reason why not. There are many ways into yourself, and we support them all.

Many of our customers use Space for themselves or with their clients as part of a larger practice. There’s no single “right way” to discover new aspects of yourself, this is another tool to help you go deeper.

Where can I learn more about Parts Play?

Check out our Resource Center. It's got some good articles that show  how Parts Play can be used in day-to-day life.

What if I don’t hear inner voices?

You don’t need to. The voices are simply "vocalizations" from your parts—but those parts can show up as phsycial or emtional sensations without hearing any inner-voice.
So, whether you “hear” them or just notice feelings, thoughts, or body cues, our kits give you language and structure to work with what’s already there.

Do I need to believe in anything for this to work?

No belief required. Parts Play isn’t mystical. It’s practical. Practicing helps you notice your own patterns and inner voices, in your own language. All you need is you-time, a little curiosity, and a willingness to listen to yourself.
